The 4 P’s of marketing — Product, Price, Place, and Promotion — have always been the foundation of strategy. They give structure to strategy, but they focus on the company. What they miss is the most important P: people and their desires.
That’s where EP² comes in. It is my modern take on the 4 P’s, designed as the human-centered layer that sits on top. EP² focuses on the missing “P,” which is people and their desires. When you weave EP² into your strategy, you don’t just market a product, you build an emotional, lasting connection.
What is EP²?
EP² stands for Experience, Engagement, Personalization, and Precision. Together, they create a framework that helps brands shift from company-centered to people-centered marketing.
EXPERIENCE
Think about Apple. People don’t line up just for a phone. They line up for the experience of belonging to a movement that feels sleek, innovative, and aspirational. Every product or service should come wrapped in an experience that aligns with the beliefs and desires of the audience.
ENGAGEMENT
Reaching your audience isn’t enough. You need to spark curiosity and keep them involved across the channels they live in. That means building campaigns that connect emotionally and meet people where they are, on social, email, Amazon, retail, or beyond. Engagement isn’t one-way communication.
